Is The Economy Really Getting Any Better? Unemployment Is Still a BIG Issue!

CBS Evening News 7/9/2013

Though the U.S. Labor Dept. reported that there were 3.8 million job openings in the month of June ( an increase of 28,000 job openings from the prior month), long-term unemployment rang-in at 4.3 million people, representing 36.7 percent of those who are currently unemployed. Not good!

Readers/viewers may also find the story on the way in which North Carolina is handling its unemployment situation interesting — and very depressing. Cutting/removing unemployment benefits is certainly not going to help North Carolina’s unemployed if suitable jobs are not available.

Note: The video is of the entire news broadcast for 7/9/2013; individual segments for the stories I mentioned were not available. For those who wish to skip to the specific news stories, they can be found a little over midway through the broadcast.
